Common Bank Exam Scoreboard: Doubts Cleared

Every candidate that has qualified the IBPS common bank PO exam is anxious to get his scorecard. As mentioned in the result the scorecards will be sent by speed post. At such, it should not take more than 4-5 days to reach the address of qualified candidates. In this post I will discuss all the doubts related to IBPS scorecard.

When will I get the IBPS scorecard?
This is question on the mouth of every successful candidate. As mentioned above, the scorecard is expected to come soon. However, since about 100000 students have qualified the IBPS exam it may take a lot of time for them to post these scorecards. Even, I am waiting for the scorecard and once I get it I will share the news on this blog.

What is the validity of the IBPS PO Scorecard?
The validity is of 1 year. Thus during this one year you can apply for various vacancies in the banks provided you satisfy their other requirements.

Does the IBPS PO Scorecard Guarantees Selection?
Definitely no. The scorecard will provide you a chance to appear for interviews. Moreover the banks may come with other criteria to screen candidates. Again since 1 lakh have passed and expected vacancy is about 33 thousand (in 19 banks), the ratio will be 3:1. Thus out of every three successful candidate one is expected to succeed. However, if you have got a good score and prepare for interview well you can certainly become a PO this year.

Did I miss any question? If yes let me know by the comment box and I will answer soon.

Vacancies in 2011 in Banks – Are you ready

A number of vacancies are expected to come in the year 2011 for bank aspirants. Already SBI has declared the vacancy of 1000 PO . The trend is expected to continue with the recruitment process for various posts in different other banks as well. It is estimated that in total about 45000 new vacancies will come in this year thus this is a golden opportunity for all of you. All you have to do is to just keep yourself update with the recent vacancies and for this purpose you can reply completely on this blog.

I will not only provide you tips on what vacancies are coming, I will tell you how to prepare for the bank exams. In my coming posts I will also come with mathematics formulas and examples to illustrate the questions of numerical and quantitative aptitude in Banks. You need to master this section if you really want to do good in bank exams. Thus bookmark this website and also refer this website to your other friends so that all of us can together make it the best learning portal for bank exams in India.

Waiting for a lot of cooperation from my readers.

Private Bank Job versus Government Bank Jobs

Most of the aspirants want to join Government banks but since there is huge competition for these government banks one has to also try for private banks. In this post I will explain the advantages and disadvantages of working in both private and government banks.

First of all let us see the advantages of working in a government bank. The best thing about government banks is the security offered by them as these are government job. That is the reason why students like to keep preparing for government jobs even when they are doing good private jobs. In private jobs there is always a fear of losing the job. And in India it is a general trend to just play safe. Secondly a government job holder is also given a lot of respect in the society. Government jobs have a number of other advantages also like number of leaves is more in comparison to private banks, there is less work pressure and extra benefits other than salary are also present.

Now let’s come to the advantages of private bank jobs. First thing is that it is quite easy to crack entrance of private banks in comparison to the entrance of government jobs. Moreover there is also a lot of growth opportunities there if you are a hard working person. The salary offered by private banks is also now comparable to that given by government jobs. The biggest demerit with these jobs is lack of security.

Thus in conclusion it may be said that keeping the traditional thinking of Indian society Government bank jobs score over the private bank jobs. However if you are not getting selected in government jobs as there is huge competition there you can try for private bank jobs.

Do you really want to become a Bank PO?

I have seen students preparing for bank exams for years. I have also see a number of students of B.tech or M.B.A wanting to enter banks. Are you one of these?

Have you ever thought of the question that do you really want to become a bank PO? If yes then what’s the reason. And are you aware of the nature of the job that you will have to do as a PO. The reason for coming with the post is not to distract you. Recently the topper of IAS 2011 said in an interview that after joining banks she realized that she was not made for this job. Thus she started preparing for civil exams and qualified. Thus I wanted to make you give a second thought to something that describes what you will be doing for your life, yes your job.

In India, however there are very few lucky people who get the chance to do what they want to do in their life. There are a lot of factors that govern the choice of career in India and financial pressure is one of these. However we must try to chase our dreams if we want to remain happy with our performance in the long run. I just hope that everyone of you just go for a career of you interest that makes an excellent and happier worker.

How to prepare for Bank Interviews

This post is for all those who aspire to get a job in Bank. Once you have qualified the written test for Bank PO or clerk your next aim should be to crack the interview. Cracking a bank interview is not tough; you just need to be yourself and remain confident.

Just like other interviews, interviews for banks are also aimed at judging the confidence and soft skills of the candidates. This is because the soft skills of the candidate are already judged in the written test. In the interview board of bank there are 2-4 people who ask questions on varying topics including candidates resume and educational and family background.

Regarding the questions asked in bank exams the questions vary from candidate to candidate. However there are some general questions that you should prepare for interviews. You can expect some general questions like

  1. Tell us about yourself?

How to minimise negative marks in bank exams

The competition for bank exams is increasing day by day. At such every aspirant of bank PO exams must be careful about the every single question especially about the negative marking in bank exams. The negative marks in banks can make a great impact on your overall score in bank exams thus affecting final selection.

Generally negative marking is equal to the 1/4th of the marks awarded for correct answer. Thus if a question is of one marks if you attempt it wrong 0.25 marks is deducted from the total. Thus one must be careful about the negative marks. At such you should stay away from blind guessing as it is never going to help you. However you may guess an answer if you are able to eliminate the number of options given for a question to two. This is called intelligent guessing.

Now let us come to the steps needed to reduce the negative marking

  1. Never guess an answer if you not sure of the guess.
  2. Practise more and more questions, which will eliminate the chances of answers getting wrong due to haste.
  3. Do not get lured for answering more and more questions. Remember that qualifying marks in each section is only 40% of total marks. Thus if you attempt about 70% questions correctly you can expect a call for interview. At such do not start guessing answers for more and more questions.
  4. Once you have darkened a circle, then you should not change it later. Remember your first instinct has maximum probability of becoming true to what you have read.
  5. Finally remember that every single number matters in final selection. Thus you should follow all the above mentioned tips to save your final score from the impact of negative marking.

How to prepare for Bank PO exams

Preparing for bank exams which is considered to be difficult among the bank aspirants is actually not that difficult, its just different. It needs a planned and systematic approach. In this article, I will explain how to prepare for Bank PO exam. This post also includes the analysis of question papers and duration of PO exams.

First of all let us analyse the Bank PO paper. The PO paper is usually of 220-300 questions. Time allowed for the exam is 2-3 hours. For instance in the Bank of Baroda bank Po entrance exam held on 13-3-2011 the number of questions was 275 and time allowed for the exam was 3 hours. Thus it gives you about for solving one question. Does it appears too less? If yes don’t worry, you need not solve all the questions. The qualifying marks in each section is only about 40% of total marks in most of the exams. Even if you attempt 150 questions correct out of 200 questions you can expect a call for interview. What is important here is the accuracy; you need to solve those 150 questions correctly. You may find it hard to attempt 150 questions correctly in the initial stages of your preparation but as you start practising more and more you will definitely see improvement. The key to success is saving time in sections like General awareness, English, computer and to use the saved time in time consuming sections like Maths and Reasoning. Moreover the time of making circles black should also be taken care of as it can make a difference. You will take about 8-15 minutes for making 200 circles black. To save time here you should darken the circle at last all together, but make sure you have arranged sufficient time for this at end.

There are different sections present in the Bank PO paper. For example in the Bank of Baroda PO paper held on 13-3-2011 the sections present were
Reasoning
Quantitative Aptitude
General Socio-Economic & Banking Awareness
English Language
Marketing Aptitude

In my opinion one should attempt General Socio-Economic & Banking Awareness first, then marketing aptitude and then English. This way you will save a lot of time for Reasoning and Quantitative aptitude.
You can read more about preparing different sections of the paper in my coming posts. Also do not forget to read about the tips to crack bank interviews and Interview experiences.
